OK. I'll go first. I like the second video. Why? I took a Physics class once and was doing very well. One weekend I hired a toothless ragged man who knocked on my door offering to trim my trees for a little cash. I gave him the job out of pity, but as I watched him shimmy up the tree with his equipment, constructing makeshift levers and pulleys, while trimming my trees with finesse, I realized that he understood the laws of physics far better than I did. The first class may prepare a student for a better score on the AP exam, but I would rather hire one from the second class.

I like the approach at high tech high because it emphasizes teamwork, not just individual achievement. The teamwork encourages social interaction.

That being said, some people do better in independent work and there is a role in organizations for individual contributors.

I like the second one because it's more interactive. Also, I think the first one relies a little too much on computers, and I couldn't see myself wanting to be on a computer all day at school. But I do like the student-centered program of the first and the fact that they can go through the courses at their own place.

i liked the first one better only because they seemed to be able to have a broader spectrum of education, how ever in the sciences department I liked the second school much better. it seemed like the teacher interaction is the same in both schools which makes a huge difference.

I like that the first one has a sense of developing with mentors, that you stay with your math teacher throughout the whole experience, and that it takes advantages to get kids to work on their own, theirby freeing up the teachers for one on one time as needed.

However, in the end, the video was a lot of buzzwords without a lot of explanation. In the end, you don't really understand what exactly the kids are doing at their stations. It's the kinda thing you need to research more to really know what you are getting into.

I personally would have loved to have gone to the SECOND one. Nothing quite beats hands on learning, especially when you are left to make mistakes and problem solve. I really think nothing quite engrains facts into your head quite like when you have to work out the bugs and stumble your own way though things.Plus it encourages groups of students to teach each other as they work things out. Much like life, no? I also liked how the one girl integrated art with Math, showing math calculations for the shapes and what not... she was able to demonstrate her learning in a way that she enjoyed instead of taking quizes and studying from a text book.

Added bonus, though they can easily lie in a video, I liked how they mentioned that the teachers have do very little behavioral monitoring. Reminded me of that saying "Idle hands make for the devils work" or something like that. Keep them working with their hands and their minds don't wander. Their creativity can be aplied to the project at hand instead of towards ways to make trouble.
